Training

  • Aircraft Transition

This course is designed to help pilots transition to a new airframe, enhancing their understanding of the aircraft, building experience, and improving marketability. Ground school includes comprehensive coverage of aircraft structure, systems, performance, weight and balance, and limitations. Flight training focuses on the aircraft's flight characteristics and emergency procedures, including full down autorotation’s (straight-in, 180-degree, HOGE, engine failure on takeoff and landing, and hovering autos), as well as handling stuck pedals and governor failures. If a Part 61.56 Flight Review is requested, we will provide a FAR Part 91 open-book exam and review at no extra charge.

  • Aircraft Recurrent

Our recurrent helicopter training is tailored for pilots who are currently flying or have previously flown different types of aircraft and need to refresh their knowledge of flight characteristics and emergency procedures. The ground school component covers a thorough review of aircraft systems, limitations, and performance. If you request a Part 61.56 Flight Review, we will include a FAR Part 91 open-book exam and review at no extra charge.

  • Full Down Autorotation Training

When the pilot has an emergency and the engine fails, you need to be prepared. This course will teach you how to deal with the emergency and if required, autorotate and fly the helicopter effectively for a safe landing. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate and if required, a full down autorotation endorsement for CFI Practical Test. If a Part 61.56 Flight Review is requested, a FAR Part 91 open-book examination and review will be conducted at no additional cost. The Part 61.56 Flight Review must be requested at the time of registration.

Prerequisite: minimum FAA Private or Commercial Pilot Helicopter License

  • Mountain Flying

This course is designed to equip pilots with the skills to safely navigate and operate in mountainous terrain. It provides a valuable opportunity to apply techniques learned during ground training to real-world scenarios. Ground training covers the unique weather patterns and wind conditions encountered in mountainous areas, offering pilots strategies to enhance safety. If requested, the course can also include full down autorotation training at higher densities, further preparing pilots for challenging environments.

Prerequisite: minimum FAA Private Pilot Helicopter License

Training at your location in your aircraft

Training in your own aircraft can be both time- and cost-effective. We bring all the required materials to your location, ensuring that the entire training process is convenient and customized to your needs. Our approach makes learning engaging and interactive. We’ll guide you through a comprehensive preflight inspection of your aircraft, including any specialized equipment it may have. Flight training will cover essential procedures such as starting and shutting down, handling emergencies (including full down autorotation’s, stuck pedals, and governor failures), as well as specific scenarios like straight-in and 180-degree autorotation’s, HOGE, engine failure on takeoff and landing, and hovering autos.

  • Night Vision Goggle Training

The Night Vision Goggle (NVG) pilot transition course provides in-depth ground and flight training for qualified helicopter pilots to safely and effectively operate helicopters equipped with NVGs. Participants are required to meet or exceed the FAA Practical Test Standards (PTS) for their certification level while using NVGs.

This course offers comprehensive academic instruction and practical flight training designed to improve safety and situational awareness during night operations. It meets the requirements specified in 14 CFR Part 61.31(k)(1-2). Training can be conducted using either green or white phosphor NVGs, depending on your equipment and preferences.

The training includes both the demonstration and practice of standard maneuvers and emergency procedures. Emergency procedure training specifically addresses touchdown autorotation’s, hydraulic-off landings (when applicable), anti-torque system failures, and NVG-related malfunctions encountered during flight.

  • Maintenance Test Flight Procedures

You will gain expertise in the procedures and techniques required to conduct maintenance test flights and assess the effectiveness of completed maintenance tasks. Our comprehensive training modules focus on detailed methodologies that enhance your understanding of aircraft performance evaluation. You will learn to identify and document any discrepancies observed during flight, ensuring that all maintenance protocols are rigorously followed. Additionally, our training emphasizes safety management systems, empowering you to spot potential issues early and maintain the highest standards of operational integrity.
